Disrupting Albion Poetry Workshpo

Workshop with JLM Morton for the Cheltenham Poetry Festival

Albion has existed in the British imagination for centuries as a green and pleasant land of tall ships and hay wains, white cliffs and country houses. Nowhere has this narrative been more cherished than in the Cotswolds; but it is a vision that has long been contested. In this poetry workshop, you will write poems inspired by contemporary folk and outsider artists, writers and performers and forge fresh takes in the writing of Albion.

Workshop leader -JM Morton
JLM Morton is based in Gloucestershire. Her pamphlet Lake 32 and micropamphlets Sentient and Cuda Ex Nihilo are published by Yew Tree Press and her work has featured in various publications, including The Rialto, Poetry Birmingham Literary Journal, Wasafiri, Ink Sweat & Tears, Atrium, Obsessed with Pipework, Streetcake, Places of Poetry, The Sunday Telegraph and on BBC Upload. In 2021 she was awarded an Arts Council England grant to work towards a poetry collection exploring cloth and colonialism. This year she’s poet in residence at Corinium Museum, Cirencester.
