WritingSpace Day Retreat at The Hide, Gloucestershire

Join us for a day of uninterrupted writing in a beautiful, tranquil venue on the Cotswold escarpment. Have you got a short story you want to finish, a pamphlet to get in order, a chapter or two to edit? Maybe you’re in a planning phase and need a clear mind to work out your next few moves on the work in progress. This retreat is designed to fit around the lives of busy people who just need a nudge to move their writing onwards.

The light, airy space with incredible views at The Hide offers the perfect balance of a creative atmosphere and natural beauty to be inspired and productive, away from everyday pressures .

You will be part of a small group of committed writers working in companionable silence, focusing on your own project. On arrival we will meet to briefly introduce ourselves and then spend the rest of our precious time on the simple act of getting some words on the page. You will be offered provocations and prompts, should you want them and there will be a set of professional resources on the writers’ craft available to inspire and instruct.

There will be desk space for you to write at, a sofa to sprawl on, a garden and nearby common land for you to wander and work through your thoughts if you need to.

We will take a morning break for coffee/tea and a break for lunch when we will have the chance to chat to each other and share work if you would like to.

This day retreat is hosted award-winning writer, poet and experienced adult educator JLM Morton. Juliette is also the founder of Dialect, a network which she’s building to support rural writers to develop their craft and meet with likeminded communities of practice. Everyone is welcome, whether you’re a Booker nominated novelist or haven’t written anything more than WhatsApp messages for years.
