Short Stuff is a new, in-person, weekly six session short story workshop, facilitated by prose writer, Charlotte Levene
Who is it for?
This workshop is for writers who have been crafting short stories and want to receive and offer feedback to other writers. The workshops will be active, inclusive and supportive. Writers will be encouraged to write, share and feedback in every session.
What will it be like?
Each workshop will take a similar format. You will start with a quick writing prompt and you will have twenty minutes to respond to the prompt and then share your work. This is a great way to build confidence in a small group, where everyone is in the same boat! The work is supposed to be messy and impulsive. The purpose is to generate ideas that may lead to bigger projects in the future.
The second half of the session will focus on the stories that you are currently writing. Each week, prior to the session, two or three writers will submit their work to the group so that everyone is able to feedback during the session. Charlotte will provide written feedback to these submissions.
Charlotte is committed to ensuring that this is a fun and useful space for writers. She knows how scary it can be to share work but also how unbelievably useful. Writing can transform through offering feedback, often more than receiving it and this is a key part of this workshop.
