The Clearing: Writing for Calm and Connection

Join our welcoming space for creative writing in a small group where you can slow down, breathe and let the words find you, wherever you are. The Clearing offers four gently guided sessions designed to support your wellbeing through creative writing, shared reading, and simple practices that help you reconnect with the world around you.

During each session, we’ll explore writing inspired by landscape and the cultural heart of Stroud, Museum in the Park. No experience is needed; just curiosity, a notebook, and the wish to make a little more room for yourself.

In these sessions, you’ll be invited to:

  • Notice what nourishes you

  • Reconnect with nature and place

  • Explore your creativity in a calm, supportive group

  • Enjoy thoughtful readings that spark imagination and reflection

We will be running two ecopoetry walks at Rodborough and Brimscombe, where we will take a circular walk, stopping occasionally to read poems that respond to our surroundings. There will also be two creative writing sessions, one inspired by the collection at Museum in the Park and another taking place at Star Anise where we will explore playful approaches to word art. Whether you’re returning to writing or trying it for the first time, The Clearing is a gentle offering - a chance to make space for yourself, create, and feel restored.

You are welcome to join just one or all of the sessions.
