Her triumph faded at once.
Robyn stood ahead of her, arms crossed, and face like she’d swallowed sour milk.
Arabella’s breath came out quick and fast. “What’s wrong?”
Robyn turned to her right. “Will you tell me now?”
There, hovering at shoulder-height, was a fairy. He was as big as Arabella’s rucksack, had dark skin, crystal blue eyes, and wings that shone the colour of honey. There was a mischievous glint in his eye.
“So impatient!” The faerie tutted, but then winked, “Very well, as the two leaders, here is your clue:
Climb or fall;
fly or trawl;
chase the wind or follow the creek;
listen carefully, little witch, and you shall find that which you seek.”
