The Oakenbury Curse Part 2

A hundred years ago, a jealous wizard called Kalis had cast a curse on Oakenbury. Anyone who gazed upon the town’s clock, even for a second, was pulled into a dreamless sleep. It had taken a small army of wizards to contain the curse – freezing the clock’s hands forever at twelve-oh-nine.

Odd knew if the clock ever broke, it would release the curse. Surely, that was what had happened? The clock had broken, and now everybody was asleep.

Everybody, of course, except Odd.

He dressed fast—donning his boots, dressing gown, and scarf—and clipped Witless into his harness.

The dog’s tail thumped hopefully.

“Okay, Witless,” Odd said, forcing his voice to be steady. “We’re going to the town square.”

It was all Odd could think to do. There was no way of finding help at home, and if Witless could lead him to the clock… then maybe Odd could fix it.
