Pop Up Poetry at Stroud Market

In December 2025, we invited a group of poets to roam Stroud Market looking for inspiration for writing on theme of ‘nourish’.

A diverse group of poets wrote en plein air and brought their offerings to an open mic later that day at the Ale House in Stroud. We squeezed more than 40 people into a very small room at the back of the pub (!) in a sharing reminiscent of the Beat Poets back in the day. We are delighted to share some of these poems below.

Nourish was a collaboration with Gloucestershire Poetry Society, funded by Stroud Town Council.
